You are appreciated. You really, truly are. I want you to know that you are valued. You are loved. You are needed. Why am I saying this? Let me give you a little background about Teacher Appreciation Week in my district:
For the past 2 years, my gift from our district for Teacher Appreciation Week has been a genuine gift certificate for a free school lunch. Yes, that is correct. To show appreciation for all the teachers in our district, we were given a handful of chicken nuggets, a spoonful of canned corn, and a plop of instant potatoes. That is it.
Before all the haters start saying I shouldn’t complain about any gift I receive, please know that I am always grateful for everything my students give me. I love handmade cards, heartfelt letters, and crayon drawings. I realize we live in a district where most students’ families simply cannot afford a gift. I do not expect ANYTHING. I am happy to just work with my wonderful students every day.
The district, however, should know better. I would rather receive a thank you note. Seriously, a school lunch gift certificate? Come on already!
I know I am not alone. Many teachers work tirelessly day after day under extremely stressful, difficult circumstances without any expectation of a gift during T.A.W. You, my friends, are heroes to me! Sooo……..
I will be giving away 5 GIFTS during Teacher Appreciation Week! During the week of May 4-8, you could win one of these pretty awesome prizes:
You don’t want to miss out! I seriously want those Shari’s Berries all for myself! Haha! Don’t they look delicious?!!
Please spread the word about this giveaway by sharing or pinning this blog post. (Yes, I know it decreases your chances of winning….. ) 😉 Thank you!!!
