3 Engaging St. Patrick’s Day Math Activities
1. Design a Leprechaun Village
Students LOVE real-life learning, and this Design a Leprechaun Village St. Patrick’s Day project will have them asking for more projects just like it! Students will have the opportunity to plan and design a leprechaun village, research leprechaun facts and folklore, create a set of leprechaun laws, and so much more!
All of the hard work is done for you. Simply print the NO PREP pages and let your students make the decisions in this fun Design a Leprechaun Village Project Based Learning Unit!
You can use the entire packet for a longer project time-frame, or pick and choose the components that work best for your classroom and schedule. I do suggest having students present or display their leprechaun village maps and sets of laws at the end of the unit. This project is a student favorite in the list of St. Patrick’s Day math activities!
2. Catch a Leprechaun Math Escape Room
Can your students work in teams to solve decimal addition and subtraction problems and puzzles in order to collect all the leprechaun’s items? This is a fun St. Patrick’s Day-themed math activity that will have your students engaged and LOVING every minute of decimal operations practice and review! Perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day math activities classroom transformation, test prep, or even sub plans!
Students can work in teams or individually to complete all 5 tasks. As they complete each of the 5 tasks, they will bring you their answers and you will quickly check them. If they are correct, you will hand them a leprechaun item (printed on the provided page) and then the next task. They continue this process until all 5 tasks are completed. When they finish, they are a “Master Leprechaun Catcher” and you can give them a prize or an award.
There are no locks, no hiding of objects, or any extra prep work. The beauty of this escape activity is that it is very low prep. Just make your copies, organize your teams, label your treats (if you want to give prizes), and you’re set!
Of course, some fun music and St. Patrick’s Day decorations also help set the stage if you want.
