10 Classroom Theme Ideas That are Easy and Beautiful

Heading back to the classroom year after year can be a little tough, but one thing that always made it fun for me was organizing and decorating my classroom. I knew that my students and I would be spending a ton of time in that classroom, so I might as well make it fun and inviting. Classroom theme ideas are not only fun to look at, but they are inspiring, too.

Keep in mind these two rules when decorating your classroom space with classroom theme ideas:

  1. Your decor does not have to be complex and over the top. Just by having coordinated colors, you are creating a more inviting space.
  2. The purpose of decor is not only to beautify, but it is also to help keep things organized. By labeling materials, shelves, and cupboards with coordinated colors and labels, you and your students will waste less time finding things. Editable decor is ideal for this purpose. (All decor shown below is editable.)

10 Classroom Theme Ideas:

Watercolor Classroom Theme – This decor is calming and beautiful, but it’s also easy to use in many different classrooms because of the variety of colors in the palette. It’s not over the top, and it is not distracting. Instead it beautifully organizes and coordinates your classroom space.

Superhero Classroom Theme – Looking for a super fun classroom theme? BAM! Here you go! This decor is creative and colorful and will inspire your students to be their best selves. Add some splashes of red, blue, and yellow, and your classroom will wow everyone who sees it!

Yellow and Gray Classroom Decor – This might very well be my favorite set of classroom theme ideas ever. I love, love, love the pretty yellows and grays with chalkboard accents throughout this entire classroom.

Chalkboard and Burlap Classroom Decor – Oh my rustic goodness! This decor is so fun and perfect for any rustic or fixer-upper classroom theme. Add in some twine, clothespins, and burlap ribbon, and it’s just wonderful!

Outer Space Classroom Theme – 3, 2, 1. . . Blast off! Students will be inspired in an out of this world way with this classroom theme idea. Pick up some glittery cutout stars from your local party store and hang them from the ceiling for added effects. It’s out of this world fun!

Woodland Animals Classroom Theme – Simply gorgeous! I love the mossy greens and forest browns of this inspired set of decor. And aren’t these forest animals the cutest ever? Perfection!

Chalkboard Brights Classroom Decor – I love the look of anything chalkboard related, and this set of decor is no exception. The bright colors pop on the chalkboard background, making a fun classroom theme. Hang neon colored pom poms from the ceiling and use bright colored bulletin board borders to further accentuate the theme!

Nautical Classroom Decor – Ahoy, matey! Sail away into a great school year with this nautical decor. The traditional reds, whites, and blues are sure to be a hit in any classroom!

Bright Colors Classroom Theme – While I do love the Chalkboard Brights decor, it can be a bit ink-heavy when printing. This decor is a great option to save on the black ink! It’s bright, colorful, and cheerful.

Chalkboard Classroom Theme – Ahhhh! Nothing beats a traditional chalkboard black and white classroom. It’s not overly distracting and keeps your classroom organized and cohesive without a ton of work. Perfection!

No matter which classroom theme idea you choose, you’ll be off to a great year with a beautiful, organized classroom space!
