This is a perfect idioms game activity for Reading and Literature Centers in grades 3-5! Students may play in pairs or small groups. “A Piece of Cake” was a huge hit with my fifth graders.

As an ESL Certified teacher, I can also guarantee that ELL students will benefit greatly from this activity. Idioms and figurative language can be a difficult thing for students learning the English language to understand.

It is recommended that you laminate the cards once you have printed them, as the game can be used in centers and will hold up longer.

This packet is part of the larger Sweet Reading unit, which is linked at the top of this description. The bundle includes:
Miss Sweet’s Bakery Text Structure Activity
Sweet Reading and Create a Candy Informational Text and Writing Unit
Sweet Spot Fact and Opinion Game

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks!
