Idioms aren’t always a piece of cake for students to understand, but with this fun, engaging Idioms Game with memory matching, students will master them quickly! This activity is easy to print and create, and is perfect for a figurative language review activity.
This fun idioms game includes:
- 20 Game Cards with Idioms
- 20 Game Cards with Meanings
- Game Directions
- Answer Key
This is a perfect idioms game activity for Reading and Literature Centers in grades 3-5! Students may play in pairs or small groups. “A Piece of Cake” was a huge hit with my fifth graders.
As an ESL Certified teacher, I can also guarantee that ELL students will benefit greatly from this activity. Idioms and figurative language can be a difficult thing for students learning the English language to understand.
It is recommended that you laminate the cards once you have printed them, as the game can be used in centers and will hold up longer.
