Welcome to Appletastic Learning

Welcome to Appletastic Learning!  As I begin my venture into the world of blogging, I have two hopes:

1.  I hope to share a glimpse into my classroom, teaching style, and what fifth grade is all about.  I will share ideas, resources, and teaching strategies with you often, so make sure to check in.

2.  I hope to meet new friends, mainly other educators, so I can learn from you.  I love to find new ideas to try in my classroom, especially ones that are both meaningful and fun!

I believe in making learning engaging and fun.  This doesn’t mean sacrificing skills, concepts or rigor.  Quite the opposite.  By using engaging activities in the classroom students learn more, become invested in their learning, and generally begin thinking at higher levels.  Skills based activities that do this are what I love creating and using.

When you find something you like, give it a try. I’ve had my share of classroom failures but they always make my a better teacher and in the end my lessons get better too.  So don’t be afraid to try something new.
