5 Fun First Week of School Activities

Fun First Week of School Activities

Let’s be honest. While the first week back to school is so exciting, it can also be utterly chaotic and exhausting! That’s why I LOVE ready-to-go, no prep activities so much. It’s also why I’m sharing 5 FUN first week of school activities for elementary students! Each of these activities is not only fun, but they are ready to print and use right out of the gate. True lifesavers!

5 Fun First Week of School Activities

1. Back to School Word Searches and Puzzles

Word searches and puzzles are always a big hit with students. This packet of August Puzzles includes 10 word searches, mazes, and other word puzzles to get your students back into the groove the minute you hand them out!

I like these first week of school activities because they are perfect for students to work independently while you complete those beginning of year benchmark assessments with individual students. They can also be used for early finishers, morning work, small group first week of school activities, and more!

2. Summer Memories Trifold Writing Activity

This no-prep, no-fuss Summer Memories Project is a super fun way to get students writing during the first week back to school.

This NO PREP, meaningful project is in an easy-to-use trifold (brochure) format, and will get your students reflecting and writing about their summer memories.

Have students present their finished projects to the class – it makes the perfect getting-to-know-you activity! Then you can also display the trifolds at open house or back to school night.
